Victoria Arney

Victoria's work gives visual form to sound, movement and birdsong. It has developed through print with particular reference to visual echos and a sense of the lost language of landscapes. Working in France over the last eight years she has developed a catalogue of birdsong recordings and field recordings. Translating landscape through understanding what is passing through it she mainly works on paper installations, woodcut and drawings, concerned with the hidden language of the land and the life that inhabits it. The shape of each birds song or call becomes the score by which she creates drawings and prints, often visiting and recording the same spot over several years .

She has worked with other artists on collaborations and also musicians and some woodcuts have become visual scores for improvisations and musical collaborations.

She shows in France, Europe and UK and is a member of The London group.
