Paradise books
installation of multiple woodcuts & light
Altar in La Ciotat Provence France.

This work used sonograms from garden recordings mainly starlings, redstarts and sparrows.
Inspired by the garden tapestries from the Middle Ages for this project I took the notion of a refuge - garden of eden, and the idea of the language of birds being sacred as a starting point.
Printed on various papers o differing thinness these were over played with light and presented at the altar as illuminated manuscripts . Th e colours were based on the peacock - a bird, in many cultures expelled from the garden because of its intense beauty .
